Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Balehonnur is located in a spanning greenery of 40 acres, 58 km from the District Head Quarters, Chikamagalur, 5 km from
Balehonnur, on the way to the famous place of pilgrimage ‘Sringeri', started during 1986-87, as a part of nationwide chain of Navodaya Vidyalayas.
JNVB has been the source of Quality Education for rural students since then. Starting from 6th standard to XII (equivalent to 2nd PUC examination of the
state) of NCERT syllabus, it educates the students, selected from all the taluqs, with a special reservation for rural students. It has a group of well
trained, experienced teaching staff, along with well stacked library, laboratory facilities, etc. Holistic all round development of the students has been
the aim of all Navodayas. JNVB has ample sports equipments, staff to train students physically. There are both staff and facilities for extra curricular
activities like Arts, SUPW (socially useful productive work), Music and Computers, etc.
Migration
One of the important features of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme is a scheme of exchange of students from one Vidyalaya in a particular linguistic region to
another in a different linguistic region to promote understanding of the diversity and plurality of India's culture and its people. The Aim of the Migration
in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas is focused on National Integration. According to the Scheme, selected 30% of 9th class students are exchanged between JNVs of
non-Hindi speaking region and Hindi speaking region, for one year. The students of JNV Balehonnur are migrated to the JNV Bohani, Narsinghpur Dist, Madhya
